IGUASSU FALLS:

 

 

Famous for its 275 falls who have an average height of 60 meters, Iguassu Falls is a great
touristic center at the southwestern Paraná.

 

TOURS:

 

-Iguassu Falls:

This spectacle of nature is located inside the Iguazú National Park . Carved in the River Iguazú, there are approximately 160 to 270 waterfalls (depending on the water flow during the rainy season). There are 19 major drops with the best view of the falls on the Brazilian side. The walkways surrounding the falls are lush with semi-tropical forest where you can see orchids, bamboo, begonias growing among the pine trees and palms. Colorful birds and butterflies are found everywhere in this dense jungle. The roar of the falling waters can be heard from afar and at the falls you will see rainbows

 -Bird Park(Parque Das Aves):

Aviaries within the rainforest.. The aviaries are accessible by trails in the forest and cover approximately 4 hectares.. In addition to seeing the beautiful birds of Brazil, there are birds from other countries. Some are facing extinction in their native land. There are over 500 species in total. You will see beautiful birds like Toucans and parakeets.

-Iguassu National Park:

Covering 185 thousand hectares, this is the largest remaining sub-tropical forest in South America. You will find trees such as Brazilian walnut, silk-cotton tree, jaracatiá, angico, canella, guacumbu, ipê, and secular peroba. This lush forest provides a home for birds and animals, such as the macaw, toucan, parakeet, monkey, crocodile, otter, jaguar and armadillo. The park museum is a wealth of information on wildlife, plant life, and geology. The rivers provide excellent fishing and boating.

-The Itaipu Dam:

Located on the Paraná River, it is the world’s largest hydroelectric operation! Itaipu Lake was created behind the dam and features beaches, marinas and parks.

-Macuco Safari:

Located in Iguaçu National Park . The emotion of sailing close to the Garganta do Diabo (Devil’s Throat) in small boats. 3 km by jeep, 600 meters by foot until the Macuco Fall and more 25 minutes by boat until the Falls. Amazing tour.

-Three Frontier Marker:

This triangular obelisk (monument) made of stone and cement is located on the exact spot where Brazil meets Argentina and Paraguay. From here, you are able to get a panoramic view of both the Paraná and Iguaçu rivers.

- Lago de Itaipu (Itaipu Lake):

This man-made lake was formed in 1982 as a result of the construction of the Itaipu Dam. The water from the lake feeds into the generators at the dam.

-Acquamania:

This water park offers water slides, swimming pools, rivers for tube floating and a children’s park called Fantasy Island.

-Refúgio Biológico Bela Vista:

Located around the reservoir at Itaipu, this conservation area has been set aside to protect the flora and fauna.

-Zoológico Bosque  Guarani:

Founded in 1996, the Municipal Zoo is home to approximately 700 animals including reptiles, monkeys, parrots, swans and toucans. The natural setting allows visitors to see dense natural vegetation, lakes, trees and water springs.

-Subestação de Furnas:

This station at Foz is one of the largest electrical power generating plants in the world. At the Reception Centre, visitors are shown films on the operation of the station.

-Helicopter Flight:

In addition to taking the catwalks at the Falls or a boat ride, there are helicopter flights available. A shorter flight (approximately 10 minutes) takes you above the Falls. Another option is to take a longer flight (approximately 35 minutes) where you continue on to fly over Itaipu, downtown Foz and the Three Frontiers monument. This is a wonderful way to explore the local scenery.

-Cataratas Water Park:

The hot springs in this park are fed by the Aqüífero Botucatu where you can relax in the warm and soothing waters.

-Argentine Falls and Commerce:

At the other side of Iguaçu river, by the Tancredo Neves bridge, is located Puerto Iguazu – Argentina, an interesting town for shops and staring point to know the Argentine falls.

-Shopping at Paraguay:

At the other side of the Paraná river, by the Ponte da Amizade, is Cuidad del Este, famous for its variety of imported products from all around the world.

-Casino:
