CHAPADA DOS GUIMARÃES:


 

The Chapada dos Guimarães National Park in the State of Mato Grosso 65 kilometres from the city of Cuiabá,
is one of many Brazilian national Parks with the area of 33 thousand hectares.

The Plateau were the Park is located, was created about 15 million years ago and extends on 6249 square kilometers.
It is situated in geological centre of the South American continent. With the altitude up to 900 meters above the sea level.

The Chapada possesses a pleasant climate and can reach low temperatures in winter, mainly in July and August.

Among many attractions, there are about 100 waterfalls, many caves and grottoes and 46 archeological sites.

 

TOURS:

-Waterfall of the Veil:The postal Card from the Chapada, the Waterfall of the Veil, formed by  Coxipó River, possessed 86m of fall.  Access by the MT-251 for Cuiabá (13km). 

-Hill of Saint Jerônimo: highest point of the park, offers a fantastic view of the region. 

-Cavern Aroe Jari and Blue Lake:Considered one of the biggest caverns of sandstone of Brazil, with approximately 1.400m of length. In their interior diverse waterfalls beyond the Blue lake exist, a crystalline blue water native swimming pool that reflects in the walls.

The prehistoric man left many vestiges of his passage by the cavern. Access by the road for Green Field (road dirt 41km) more path of 1h on foot. 

-Rocky Formations Stone city:carved by the wind and by the rain, remembering ruins of a city, in a cânion formed by big wall of 350m of height.  Access by the road for Cold Water (road 14km in dirt and sand). 

-A walk of the Stone:Altar Stones, Thorn Stone, Hat of Sun, Totem, Table of the Sacrifices and the Stone of the Alligator, with small fossils little seas, healthy and curious formations rocky natives of sandstone that look be balanced mysterious during the journey of 5km that they form the Road of the Stones.  There also the Lookout is found of hill Saint Jerônimo with pretty sight for the Plain Pantaneira, beyond the Mushroom of Stone, zone archaeological with prehistoric paintings.  Access by path (12km).
 

-Home of Stone and the Road of the Waters: The river Seven of September forms a cavern of sandstone called House of Stone and it compose a sequence of waterfalls called of Road of the Waters.  Between the waterfalls, they are the of the Sonrisal, from the Swallow and of the Jump.  Access by path (12km). 

-Gate of the Hell:Lookout in the brink from the highway providing the sight from the City of Stone.  .  Access by the MT-251 for Cuiabá (18km).  They exist diverse other appeals: waterfalls from the Martinha and of the Pingador, Paredão of the Echo, Lookout from the Geodésia and Farm Xaraés. 

-The city and theirs houses: The colonial baroque style is present in everybody the constructions that still they resist to the time, dated of the centuries XVII and XVIII, spreaded by the city of Chapada of the Guimarães. 

-Our church Lady of Santana of the Sacrament: Built by slaves in 1779, in baroque style, possess the altar painted to gold still conserved.  Located in the Plaza Wunibaldo, in the city of Chapada of the Guimarães
