DELTA DO PARNAIBA:

 

 It is called delta by have form of an  invert triangle (the same format from the Greek letter delta).  Beautiful ecologic shrine,
Delta Paraiba has more tham 2.700km² around the states of  Piauí and Maranhão, is composed by 73 islands, lakes, beaches,
dunes of  40 meters of height, a maze of narrow channels, tropical forest. Delta is enhanced by flocks of herons, toucans,
yellow-crawed alligators, monkeys, wild horses, lion monkeys, foxes and deer.

ts water falls to the Atlantic by 5 different arms. The Parnaiba is the only  Delta  open ocean in the Americas.

 

TOURS:

 

   Trip by boat to the Parnaiba river:
River and sea, mangues and dunes alternating in the margins. Beyond of the boat is possible have an idea from the diversity and greatness of the Delta.  The trip offered leave of the Port of the Barges(Porto das Barcas)or of the Port of Tatus about the 9h, with return in the end from the afternoon. Soon achieved Parnaíba river(the two ports are in the Iguaraçu, another arm of the Delta), following up to island of the Poldros, with dunes that they shelter ponds and they give access to the sea.  In the igarapé of the Poldros, an of the pretiest one of the Delta, with luck is able to see monkeys, alligators and garças.  The return is from the beach Blank hill ,for the last dive of the day. 

Salt Stone:
When the inhabitants and tourists of Parnaíba want to go to the beach, they don't have doubts: the salt stone, a town of fishermen with bars spreaded by the beach.  Its name must to the  accumulated salt between the stones  after water evaporation . The Salt Stone is situated in the Island of Big Saint Isabel, but belongs to Parnaíba, from the which is to 18 km of road.

Parnaiba City:
The principal city in the Delta with historical mansions and rich workmanship.The Port of the Barges,concentrates warehouses used in the century XVIII, was reformed and shelters today inns, restaurants, shops and a center of workmanship. 

Delta Birds:
It is impressive the wealth of birds in the region of the Delta.  Alone in the Island of the Cashew(Ilha do Cajú) already 
catalogued 137 species. Some of the most common birds of the Delta: Guará, colhereiro, garças, martim fisherman, xexeu.

Cajú Island:
an ecological sanctuary where a rare combination of ecosystems provides a haven for animals in extinction and migratory birds. As well as abundant vegetation with cashew trees and mango forests, the island has twenty five kilometres of semiwild beaches, salt-water channels, dunes and crystal clear fresh-water lakes formed by rain water.

Little Port Pond:
Surrounded by dunes and palm tree, the little Port pond is the main pond of fresh water between the dunes from the region.The pond is to 15km of Parnaíba and the access is for road.
